One of my favorites at the holidays was poppy seed bread. This recipe was given to mom from Aunt Barbara. I put it here without any alternations from me. It is the best!
3 cups flour
2 1/4 cups of sugar
1 1/4 cup of oil (I use canola)
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 1/2 tablespoons of poppy seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons of almond extract
1 1/2 teaspoons of imitation butter extract
1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
Combine everything in a large bowl and mix well. It will form a fairly liquid batter. Pour them into 2 bread loaf pans that have been greased and floured.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
1/4 cup of orange juice
1/2 teaspoon of almond extract
1/2 teaspoon of imitation butter extract
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
3/4 cup of powdered sugar.
Mix well and pour over the loafs just as they come out of the oven. They will absorb the liquid and become very moist.
